The Community Clubhouse was ready and on October 1st at 5:30 PM fifty-eight of the Bay’s neighbors arrived to share their food and to enjoy each other’s company. The Hanford Baykeeper Steering Committee had the Colony Restaurant prepare the turkey, gravy and stuffing. A wide assortment of side dishes and desserts were provided by the attendees. Soon the hall filled with the voices of happy people greeting each other and settling down to enjoy their bountiful meal.
As each table of people went to fill their plates, they passed bulletin boards of photos from previous Baykeeper events such as the Shoreline Sweeps and events in the Clubhouse.
After all had finished the main course, a member of the Baykeepers Steering Committee briefly spoke about this year’s events such as the success of the two Shoreline Sweeps and the Baykeeper’s Kids Day which was an educational event for the Bay’s children to help them learn to be Junior Baykeepers. This event was so successful that another Kids Day will be on the Baykeeper’s calendar of events for next year. Lastly, the speaker reminded the attendees that the Committee’s work to provide educational events, maintain this website, and provide the Friendsgiving Dinner rely on donations. Thanks was given for the residents’ ongoing support. Also, if interested, residents are invited to join the Steering Committee.
The evening’s atmosphere of lively conversations and laughter continued for some time. When the time came for the evening to end, everyone helped to put away the tables and chairs so that the Clubhouse would be ready for other events.
Below are some photos from the dinner. Take a moment to look at them by clicking on the images one by one.
